Harlan Miller once said, ” I wish we could put up some of the Christmas spirit in jars and open a jar of it every month”. Considering my obsession with all things “Christmas”, I am completely delighted by this quote and it absolutely inspired this post!
If you want to put Christmas in jar, I say put it in an apothecary jar! Recently, apothecary jars have really made a grand entrance onto the home decorating stage. With such versatility, there is so much you can do with them and utilize then in so many areas of your home.
The Christmas Centerpiece
For this centerpiece, I started with filling the jars with some winter merriment! I simply filled the bottom of the jars with faux snow and then dropped in the tiny Christmas trees. The finishing touches included the white fluffy dear and the gold pine cones (all acquired at Michael’s). The sky is the limit with the options of what you could incorporate inside the jars. Be creative and use some of your own favorite Christmas elements. That could include any variety of ornaments, characters, animals, items found in nature, etc.
After the apothecary jars were ready to go, I surrounded them with crystal flocked garland (that I have had for years). You could really use any type of greenery or garland you have. Next, I added in the glass candle votive holders to add some warm “glow” to the vignette. Candle lighting is always a must in any design project like this! Once I placed the candle holders randomly throughout the garland, it was time to add the final bling. I absolutely flipped over these large gold, mercury glass ornaments and love how they compliment the other glass elements in this centerpiece.
To complete the project, a few more sparkly ornaments were dropped into the arrangement along with some glittery sprigs. Additionally, I added a few more mercury glass votive holders…ho ho ho!! Super simple! In this centerpiece, I kept the colors neutral for this particular application. However, I encourage you to use elements, ornaments and other Christmas decorations you already have that work with your favorite colors of the season. The sky is the limit!
