Creating Christmas decorations for small spaces can be challenging. With that in mind, I really enjoyed designing this Tiny Christmas Centerpiece for a small round dining table in my kitchen area. In past posts, I have shared decorating ideas for several centerpieces created for my large 16-foot island. Having heard from several readers that they were interested in seeing ideas for smaller spaces, the inspiration for this post came to be.
My sister and her family live in a home with small spaces. Also, she is a high school teacher, not leaving her much time for decorating. She would happily admit that she did not get the “creative” gene that came from our mother. So, sis…this one is for you!
Norman Vincent Peale, who wrote the best-seller, “The Power of Positive Thinking” once said, “Christmas waves a magic wand over the world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful”. Now is the time of year that we are all waving our little magic wands to transform our homes for the season.

To put this together, you can use any round or square plate or platter as the base. This one is a snowflake platter (similar options shown below) that is just a bit bigger than a dinner plate. The only other insight on this is to choose something that isn’t white, so the “snow” stands out. Instead of buying faux snow (which you could absolutely do!), I used kosher salt and it really looks like snow! Each grain of kosher salt is larger than regular salt so it adds great texture. Plus, it was already in my pantry and most likely is in yours!
The tiny flocked trees came from Michaels in their snow village section and can be found in other stores.
This year, the theme for my Christmas decorations include rustic and winter features…a combination of Texas and Colorado. Adding in the small antlers ornaments tied it all together. To finish up the look, use any variety of votive holders and tiny ornaments. Be creative here with textures and colors! The votive candles add such a lovely glow to the centerpiece. See below for some more ideas.
I am eagerly awaiting to see what my sister puts together for her small spaces! Not only is this tiny Christmas centerpiece adorable, but it is also very useful as you can salt your dinner dishes straight from the tray (wink)!! And now, my table is “softer and more beautiful”.
