My parents live in Dallas, so I don’t get to be with my mother on Mother’s Day very often since I moved to Denver. This year, though, they are coming a few weeks before, so we will get to celebrate it with her a little early with this Spring Table Setting. My mother is an acclaimed hostess and they open their home very often for events, both large and small. She has most certainly been my most significant inspiration for my own passion for entertaining!
They actually arrive this coming weekend, so I have been hurriedly putting together this table setting and menu for the luncheon we will have here the day after they arrive. It will only be the four of us and my parents so it will be an easy gathering to facilitate.
Spring Table Setting
To start things off, I found these napkins at HomeGoods a few weeks ago and thought they were just so happy and perfect for the occasion. I found the same Ralph Lauren Floral Dinner Napkins on Amazon and included a link for you below. The fresh colors are perfect for a spring table setting and became the inspiration for the rest of the table decor. This spring table setting would also be very appropriate for a birthday or other special occasion.
As you may know, I enjoy including a bit of glam into most of my table settings, and this one is no exception. I decided to reuse these blush pink table runners that I bought earlier this year for my Galentine’s dinner table setting (shown here). To see the whole post, click here.
Recently, I found these lovely, simple blush pink dinner plates at Ikea for only $3.29 each. Your place settings do not have to be expensive to create a beautiful look! I also already had the green bowls from Cost Plus World Market and they coordinated perfectly.
The only thing I bought for these place settings was the adorable white chargers from Hobby Lobby for only $1.99 each! I searched high and low for white charges and ended up finding these for such a little investment. Plus, I can use them for many other table settings throughout the year.
Topping the simple blush pink plates with my Waterford salad plates added a bit more glamour that my mother deserves 🙂
Spring Table Setting Centerpieces
For the centerpiece, I wanted to create something long and contemporary, yet elegant. I knew I wanted to use white hydrangeas due to their great beauty and simplicity. I just needed to figure out a way to spread them out. Having a sizeable collection of these simple 9″ glass cylinder vases from the Dollar Tree, they worked perfectly.
For an added dab of color, I used fresh limes in the vases…super easy and colorful. After the luncheon, I will use them to make fresh limeade and key lime pie. Here are a few of my favorite recipes using limes…
Cafe Rio (copycat) Mint Limeade
The total cost of this centerpiece…$56.00!! Eight cylinder vases (from Dollar Tree) @$1.00 each, six bags of limes (from Trader Joe’s) @$1.99 each, and six bundles of hydrangeas (from Trader Joe’s) @ $5.99 each.
Here are another few shots of some of the decor around the room that I created to coordinate with the table. Simple and easy ways to work with your theme…
Here is my sweet momma…
My whole life, I grew up watching my mother (and dad!) entertain and host guests with such ease and grace. On top of that, my mom is a brilliant cook. I certainly owe my similar passion for the same to her and the great example she provided. I can assure you that there has never been a single person that has left their home that has not felt welcomed and special. The most amazing part of this aspect of her life is that she is legally blind.
If you get the chance to entertain your mother on this Mother’s Day, I hope this provided some inspiration. If you don’t get the chance to be with your mother on or around Mother’s day, there are plenty of other ways to help her feel loved and special. Please find joy in the special memories you have with your mother and how she has blessed your life.
This is my favorite shot of this spring table setting…through the mirrors!
