As you may well know, I love reasons to celebrate and my son’s 18th birthday was no exception. Because we already have big plans for his graduation party coming up, he decided he wanted to do something small with his closest friends for his birthday. Believe it or not, he let me actually throw him a dinner party! Oh, happy day!! However, he made me promise that it would not be too fancy. Today, I am sharing the details of the table setting I created for his party and other Masculine Dinner Party Ideas.

Masculine Dinner Party Ideas
For my son’s party, we decided to serve him and his friends a seated dinner. They all love our steaks, so it was easy to get them all to attend. It was important for the table setting to work for a bunch of teenage boys…hence, the challenge…but one I was eager to tackle. Here are some ideas for creating a tablescape for the men in your lives.

1. Use masculine patterns such as plaids, check, or stripes.
These buffalo check napkins were perfect to set things off. They certainly help yield a casual look for a group of young men.

2. Feature masculine colors like browns, blacks, tans, dark blues, and greens.
Because of the buffalo check, black chargers were a natural fit. I had other black accessories that also work well with this look.

3. Stay away from flowers! Use natural greenery or plants for a centerpiece.

For this table, I used pre-packaged greenery from my local Trader Joe’s so it was super easy and inexpensive. Plus, the eucalyptus smelled so good.

The centerpiece was so easy to do. I simply weaved the greenery throughout the candle holders layering the two different types of species on top of each other.

4. Add casual or rustic elements to the table setting.
For the napkins, I used jute rope to wrap the napkins. The just also look great with the rustic nature of my dining table and provides a nice, warm contrast to all the black and white. Feathers and/or antlers would also be so nice to incorporate into a setting like this one.

5. Use simple dinnerware and “manly” glassware.
To make sure not to have any “frills” for this event, I used very clean and classic plates and bowls. My square bowls were perfect for the guy’s salads. I also used beer mugs for their drinks (non-alcoholic, of course!!) which felt very masculine to me. Copper mugs would also be a great vessel for any drink.

There are so many other occasions where you could potentially have an opportunity to entertain the special men in your life. Graduation, Father’s Day, a Retirement Party, etc. are those types of celebrations where you could incorporate some of these ideas.
Other Masculine Dinner Party Ideas
The simplicity and sleekness of this table setting is perfection! I love the use of the succulents especially and all of the exposed natural wood.

The neutral and rustic feel of this table setting are perfect for any masculine function! And, notice…no flowers! Love the fern being used here.

And, isn’t this so great for a centerpiece for your favorite guy?! I love the feathers and antlers for a nice touch of nature.

The blue tones and the beer theme really do the trick for this lovely celebration! And…notice the natural greenery used…

With Father’s Day right around the corner, hopefully, there are some inspirations here that can help you create your own celebration for your guys! Thank you for stopping by. It certainly helps ease the struggle I am having with my son heading off to college this fall. If your kiddos have gone off to college, I would love to hear how you processed it. Don’t get me wrong…I am super excited for his future and this amazing journey he is about to embark on BUT he is my first kiddo leaving our nest, so…

there just aren’t enough ideas available for this sort of dinner party and you do it so well!
