Since we are so close to Halloween, I thought I would work on coming up with a fun cocktail for the occasion. Today, I am sharing my new Blood Orange and Vodka Cocktail Recipe that would be fun for you to make for Halloween or year-around.

This post is sponsored by Lenox but all of my opinions and comments are my own. You can see my disclosures here.
Since our kids are grown up, we love having our neighborhood kiddos stop by on Halloween night. Sometimes, we hand out a cocktail to our neighborhood friends that are coming by with their kids.

If not that, a neighbor down the street usually has a gathering after the trick-or-treating festivities in their front yard around a firepit. I thought I would come up with a signature cocktail that we could share with the group.
Blood Orange and Vodka Cocktail Recipe
If you know me well, you know we are vodka efficienados! Tito’s is our go-to, so I decided I would create a vodka cocktail that has a Halloween theme. Blood orange…bingo!!

So, I trotted myself off the liqueur store to try to find a blood orange liqueur that might do the trick (like TRICK or treat! Ha!!).

This recipe is a combination of a martini and a spritzer…and was partly inspired by a Kir Royale…one of my favorite drinks.
If you have read some of my other cocktail recipes (I will list some below), you know that I enjoy creating cocktails in a beverage glass rather than a typical cocktail glass or wine glass. Today, is no exception.

I am super excited about our new Lenox Valencia All-Purpose Beverage Glasses in Smoke. The smokey tint in the glasses is perfect for a cocktail like this! And, they have a matching decanter that is super elegant with the same subtle smoke color.
Steps for creating this “Chilling” Cocktail…
Step One: Prepare the beverage glasses by dipping the rims in water and then in the sanding sugar. I used black but you could use orange also.

Step Two: Gather the ingredients to prepare the cocktails. Tito’s was an obvious choice for the vodka but any type of vodka will work. To top off the cocktail once you have mixed the liqueurs, you can choose between the flavored Blood Orange & Black Raspberry Pellegrino OR Champagne.

Step Three: Make the cocktail according to the recipe below. For the “spritzer” part of this recipe, you can use any kind of soda or sparkling water. However, I prefer champagne as it adds a bit more tanginess to the drink than the alternative.

A “Chilling” Blood Orange and Vodka Cocktail Recipe
This refreshing cocktail is great for year-around entertaining but it is perfect for any Halloween celebration.
Ingredients
- 2 oz Vodka I prefer Tito's
- 2 oz Blood Orange Liqueur I used Solerno
- 1 splash Champagne or Prosecco or Sparkling Water or Soda
- 1 Squeeze Fresh Lemon Juice
- 1 drop Red Food Coloring
- 1 drop Yellow Food Coloring
Instructions
-
Combine Blood Orange Liqueur and Vodka in a Martini Shaker with ice and shake vigorously.
-
Add the food coloring to the shaker and shake again.
-
Pour the ingredients into the glasses over ice.
-
Pour the bubbles into the glass (to taste).
-
Squeeze the juice of a lemon wedge to top it off.
Step Four: Dress up a tray to serve these festive cocktails! I started with a black tray to start with a Halloween vibe. The white meshing provided a bit of contrast for the tray and set a foundation.

Since I am serving these drinks as an aperitif, my new Lenox Seasons Radiance Plates in Dusk are perfect for serving any appetizer with this presentation. I love the moody, contemporary feel that they add for the moment.

Either my Roasted Rosemary Marcona Almonds or my Mediterranean Tomato Bruschetta would be perfect options to serve with this cocktail!

Cheers my friends!

Pin it for Later…

How dry would you say this drink is?
Hi Martha! I would say that is pretty dry. The lemon helps with that for sure!
I seriously wish I lived closer. You’d be making these for me tonight. I need a drink!
Me too!! I certainly would!! XO
