Happily, we have a new puppy! Sadly, it has put me way behind on blogging plans. Today, I am hopping into your inboxes to share A Modern and Fancy Black and Green Christmas Tablescape that I put together for a charity Christmas Home Tour and then for our own celebrations this year.

There is a nice story about how it came together. For the last couple of years, I have been invited to be one of the featured table designers for the L’Espirit de Noel Christmas Home Tour here in Denver to raise money for the Central City Opera. It is always an honor to be able to participate.
For this year’s tour, we were given a beautiful home to decorate in coordination with the talented ladies from Flower Power…a local florist. I designed the table (and the Christmas Tree) around the colors and style of the homeowner’s dining room AND, then, duplicated a similar look in our dining room since the palettes were so similar.
Sooo…the bonus in this post is getting to see the table setting in both spaces…in the tour and in our home for the holidays.
Also, stay tuned for a big change I have made in our dining room! I am also sharing a picture of our new little stinker. She is 14 weeks old now and is a handful of puppiness and love!

A Modern and Fancy Black and Green Christmas Tablescape – in the Christmas Home Tour
The contemporary style of the homeowner’s dining room was begging for a modern look for the table design. The only other pieces of furniture in the room were black and green so that inspired the direction I went. I think it is important to highlight the tones in any room when it comes to putting together a table setting that will complement the room.

I started with simple black metal chargers to provide a modern, clean foundation for the place settings. To “fancy things up”, I featured my classic Lenox Tuxedo Gold dinnerware. I have owned it for over 30 years and it has truly stood the test of time. Owning classic pieces is important to building any tableware collection.

To add a few more “fancy” touches, I used a combination of green chiffon napkins topped off with these stunning Crown Linen Designs Victorian Gold Embroidered Napkins.

And, drumroll please…the Arte Italica Vetro Gold Compotes topped everything off with such elegance. Little known fact…this line of stemware has been featured in multiple episodes of Downton Abbey (one of my all-time favorite shows!)!

Flower Power created the stunning flower arrangements for the centerpiece and then we added a combination of color-coordinated gold votive holders and a few more Christmas ornaments for a festive, holiday touch.

You can shop all of this look at the bottom of this post.
A Modern and Fancy Black and Green Christmas Tablescape – in our own Dining Room
The design and color palette of the table I created for the Christmas Home Tour was perfect for our own dining room so I decided to recreate it for our home with only a few minor changes…namely, the flower arrangements…created by yours truly.

For the flower arrangements, I simply bought a few bunches of green and white flowers from Trader Joe’s and then used natural fresh greenery from our yard. Usually, at this time of year, grocery stores also sell bunches of fresh, natural winter greenery in case you don’t have access to any outdoors.

Typically, our Christmas Day dinner is quite formal which I why I bring out loads of our best stemware. Since the tablescape has a lot going on, I decided to use our simple, yet classic, crystal stemware.

For this table, the compotes are the star of the show! Topping them off with an ornament tied with a black velvet ribbon makes a perfect and simple gift for your guests. Plus, it adds another touch of holiday flair.

Finally (if you know, you know!), I always coordinate my buffet with our table settings. Here you will also see my latest change in our dining room (if you didn’t notice already)…new black grasscloth wallpaper. I am OBSESSED!

Stay tuned for my Christmas Home Tour coming out shortly! I apologize that I am getting this all out so late. I blame that on our gorgeous puppy!! ;-/

This is our new peanut that is keeping our hands and hearts full! Her name is “Kimber”. Thank goodness are kids will be home with her over the holidays to bond with her and help with her.

I hope you enjoyed seeing both ways to create a Modern and Fancy Black and Green Christmas Tablescape. You could easily duplicate this look with a different accent color/colors. Are you ready for holiday dinners?
